Books of the Prism Trilogy

A tale of hidden realms, awakened colors, and the fire beyond the waterfall

Rainbowfire is Book One of the Prism Trilogy, a fantasy novel by Lawrence P. Picarsic that follows the journey of sisters Nadia and Evelyn as they discover they are children of both the human and Fairie worlds. After Nadia’s near-fatal rattlesnake bite and fall at Devils Punch Bowl, she awakens the Clear crystal and learns about hidden caves, living crystals, ancient guardians, and a quest to gather scattered color-bearers across the human world to confront a growing darkness known as the Darluns. The story span’s diverse locations including waterfalls, islands, deserts, forests, and hidden crossings, culminating in a crossing into the fairy realm and the beginning of a larger war.

Endless adventures

The story kicks off with Nadia’s fall at Devil’s Punch Bowl, where she sees strange colors shimmering beneath the water and survives a snakebite without harm. This sparks the discovery of hidden caves, living crystals, and the truth that she and her sister Evelyn belong to both the human and fairy worlds. Their father tells tales about the crystals, each a different color and linked to a bearer with special powers like courage, joy, healing, endurance, memory, calm, harmony, and passage.

The world of Rainbowfire

The story opens with Tessa and Marie receiving mysterious crystals from their father, who tells them the tale of Nadia and Evelyn. Nadia’s fall and rattlesnake bite at Devils Punch Bowl are miraculously survived due to rainbow-colored light, introducing the concept of crystals as keys to courage and magic. Nadia and Evelyn’s journey leads them to Devils Punch Bowl, Monkey Island, and beyond, where Nadia awakens the Clear crystal and learns that the Fairie woman who saved her is her birth mother. Nadia begins a worldwide quest to find other bearers of the crystals, each representing a color with distinct powers: Red (guardianship), Orange (joy), Yellow (healing), Green (roots and endurance), Blue (calm and steadiness), Purple (memory and judgment), White (unity), Brown (passage and trust), and Clear (truth and recognition).
